Deep Dive Extraperitoneal Access to Abdominal Wall Reconstruction

COURSE OVERVIEW

This advanced cadaver dissection course provides surgeons with an immersive, anatomy-driven exploration of extraperitoneal access techniques used in complex abdominal wall reconstruction. Through detailed prosection and hands-on dissection, participants will develop a three-dimensional understanding of the abdominal wall layers, neurovascular anatomy, fascial planes, and surgical landmarks essential for safe and effective reconstruction.

The course emphasizes the practical application of extraperitoneal approaches, including retromuscular, preperitoneal, retrorectus, and lateral abdominal wall dissections. Faculty will demonstrate strategies for developing tissue planes, preserving critical structures, managing challenging anatomy, and creating durable functional repairs while minimizing intraperitoneal mesh exposure.
