The SUNY General Education Framework “addresses the fundamental goals of higher education, including proficiency with essential skills, familiarization with disciplinary and interdisciplinary ways of knowing, and enhancement of the values and disposition of an engaged 21st century global citizenry.” With the recent and upcoming updates to the framework, SUNY System Administration, SUNY University Faculty Senate, and SUNY Faculty Council of Community Colleges invite you to submit an abstract to present at an academic conference to share ideas on the way general education is practiced throughout the SUNY system.
The conference will bring new and aspiring instructors and scholars together with seasoned instructors and scholars who can share their expertise in teaching and learning, research, course development and approval, and assessment in the General Education Framework. For this year’s conference, the focus will be on four areas related to the General Education Framework:
- Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice;
- Civic Discourse and Engagement;
- Artificial Intelligence Literacy; and
- Sustainability
The conference will offer opportunities for discussions about intersections among these areas and other parts of the General Education Framework as well. The conference will offer new ways of supporting student learning in these areas and place these areas in conversation with each other. Innovative and surprising approaches are particularly welcome. The conference will facilitate robust exchange of ideas and provide opportunities for networking, with the overall goal of fostering communities of practice.
