Plot Twist: The Power of the Pivot—and the People Who Help You Make It

CAREERS ARE BUILT THROUGH CONNECTION

Careers rarely follow a perfectly mapped-out path. Unexpected changes, bold decisions and surprising opportunities can take us in directions we never imagined—but we rarely navigate those turns alone.

Join Hadley Schafer, Shannon Smith, Tracy Punch and Jordan Swenson for an honest and engaging conversation about the career and life pivots that reshaped their paths. Representing association leadership, entrepreneurship, event technology, catering and nonprofit work, the panelists will share how relationships, volunteering, networking and the courage to say “yes” helped them move forward when plans changed.

Attendees will leave with practical strategies for building authentic professional relationships, staying visible within their communities and creating a network that supports them—not only when they need something, but throughout every stage of their careers.

Whether you are navigating a transition, considering your next move or preparing for whatever comes next, this session will remind you that a pivot is not the end of the plan. It may be the beginning of something even better.

BRING SOMEONE TO THE TABLE

MPI members are invited to bring a nonmember colleague, client or industry friend for just $25.

Think about the person who is new to the industry, navigating a career change, growing a business or ready to build stronger professional relationships. Your invitation could introduce them to the connection, opportunity or community that helps shape their next chapter.

Reserve your seat—and invite someone who should be in the room.
