Who’s Who in Medicare

This presentation was developed to assist providers with a better understanding of the 12 different Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) jurisdictions and their respective duties assigned by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The session will also identify and explain the purpose of other Medicare contractors that may request medical record documentation from providers for review, including the Comprehensive Error Rate Contractor (CERT), the Recovery Auditor Contractor (RAC), the Supplemental Medical Review Contractor (SMRC), and the Unified Program Integrity Contractor (UPIC). Contact information and resources for all Medicare contractors identified will be offered during this course, as well as a live question-and-answer period (as time permits).

Attendees: Those who are encouraged to attend include Medicare Parts A and B (inpatient and outpatient) providers: clinicians (physicians, nurse practitioners, physicians assistants, nurses), administrative staff (CEOs, CFOs, CMOs), billers and coders, documentation specialists, quality and compliance personnel, and any other staff that may benefit from the material outlined above.
