Mission-Critical Vision Systems in Europe: Supply Chain, Manufacturing and System Integration
Hosted by : Polar Light Technology

The SID Mid-Europe Chapter invites engineers, researchers, product leaders and system integrators to submit abstracts for its 2027 conference in Stockholm. The conference will examine the full European value chain for mission-critical vision systems - from materials and emitters to optics, sensors, manufacturing, qualification, and complete system integration, as well as their applications.

Topics for Abstract Submission
- Mission-critical display requirements and operational use cases
- MicroLED, OLED, laser and other display engines
- III–V emitters, materials, backplanes and device architectures
- Waveguides, freeform optics, combiners, meta-optics and tunable optics
- Head-mounted, head-up and cockpit displays; sights and rugged visual systems
- EO/IR sensors, low-light imaging, night vision and sensor fusion
- Eye tracking, human factors, visual performance and operator workload
- Packaging, interconnects, thermal management and power efficiency
- Manufacturing, yield, test, metrology, reliability and qualification
- Requirements engineering, verification and validation for mission and safety-critical systems
- European supply-chain resilience, sovereignty, lifecycle support and obsolescence
- Simulation, training, scientific visualization and professional XR
- System-integration case studies from defense, aerospace, automotive safety and industrial vision
These topics are recommendations and should be seen as a means to spark ideas and steer alignment, but participants are free to propose abstracts outside of these topics.
Students are encouraged to apply for SID-MidEurope Chapter student award.
