CPI’s 2026 Saving Places Conference
The Case for Preservation
February 11 - February 13, 2026
Join Colorado Preservation, Inc (CPI) for the 29th annual Saving Places Conference, a nationally recognized, dynamic three-day event featuring engaging speakers and over 40 sessions, tours and networking opportunities. Each year content highlights the conference theme in addition to offering foundational sessions focused on core preservation concepts.
In 2026, we recognize three historic milestones: 60 years of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), Colorado's 150th year of statehood, and the 250th anniversary of the United States. The NHPA is the foundation for historic preservation nationwide, establishing the National Register of Historic Places, State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation. While there is much to celebrate with these anniversaries, these protections are facing increasing threats. This year’s conference will examine what is at risk and how we can work together to ensure these measures remain strong for generations to come!
NEW for 2026 - CPI is pleased to introduce a new Preservation Workforce Development Track, featuring hands-on training in traditional trades while looking at ways to advance and expand the career field of preservation. This initiative not only connects those interested in joining the preservation workforce with educators and employers, but also explores the challenges and opportunities of developing a more robust and inclusive preservation career field.

We Are Colorado Preservation, Inc.
Since 1984, Colorado Preservation, Inc. (CPI) has diligently worked to make a difference in communities throughout the state. Energized around a central theme of “building a future with historic places,” CPI was founded by visionary leaders who identified a need for a statewide nonprofit organization structured around preserving, protecting, and promoting Colorado’s historic places. Historic preservation is much more than keeping “old” buildings standing; preservation is about creating a sense of place, enhancing communities, and revitalizing economies. Our organization promotes the critical connection between people and place.
CPI works to ensure historic places across Colorado are protected and will be preserved for future generations. CPI advances its mission by partnering with property owners, non-profit organizations, educators, and local governments through its signature initiatives Colorado’s Most Endangered Places Program (EPP), its Dana Crawford & State Honor Awards, and its annual Saving Places® Conference
The Saving Places Conference is one of the many ways CPI advances historic preservation by bringing together individuals, organizations, communities, and projects from across the nation to discuss the latest in preservation, looking at common concerns and challenges while celebrating our collective accomplishments. For over 20 years, CPI has provided essential training and networking opportunities to individuals like YOU working to protect our state’s heritage.
