Are you a pediatric healthcare professional eager to sharpen your point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) skills? Join us for a dynamic, one-day workshop designed to boost novice and intermediate users to a new level of confidence and competence in point-of-care ultrasound imaging. This workshop is designed for pediatricians (community-based and hospitalists), pediatric emergency physicians, trainees, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and allied health professionals who care for children. It is especially suited for novice to intermediate POCUS users seeking to build practical skills in pediatric-focused ultrasound applications. You’ll have the opportunity to explore a range of POCUS machines and pricing models, discover practical billing strategies for Ontario, and have an opportunity to ask POCUS experts for their tips and tricks for incorporating POCUS into clinical practice.
This state-of-the art educational experience will include small group teaching, hands-on scanning and immersive simulation with a high-fidelity ultrasound simulator.
Learning Objectives
- Attendees will gain understanding of POCUS and the current state in Pediatrics and PEM.
- Attendees will be able to understand the clinical integration of core Pediatric POCUS applications, using a case-based approach.
- Attendees will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of these high-yield core Pediatric POCUS applications: Basic operations and knobology, lung, cardiac & IVC, skin & soft tissue, vascular access, bladder, kidney & rectal diameter.
- Attendees will gain understanding of logistical considerations, including ultrasound equipment comparison, vendor interaction, and Ontario billing practices.
Who Should Attend:
- Pediatricians and pediatric hospitalists, pediatric trainees, pediatric emergency physicians and trainees, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and allied health professionals.
- Beginner to intermediate POCUS users looking to improve or expand their skill set, specifically in pediatric POCUS applications.
Pre-Program Requirements:
- Participants will receive access to pre-learning materials through a modular online curriculum (high-yield video and slide-based lessons covering POCUS fundamentals).
