Irene C. Edmonds Youth Theatre Camp - 2026

SUMMARY

This is a five-week performing arts camp that has been a perennial favorite for 30 years. It is a non-profit program for boys and girls ages 7-16 that seeks to explore and enhance the intellectual, emotional, creative, and artistic abilities and talents of each participant.

The camp is designed to introduce and expose participants to the arts - theatre, music and dance - through daily classes, workshops and cultural/entertainment excursions. The program culminates with a theatrical production on the campus of Florida A&M University.

The youth theatre members continue participating with the Theatre Program throughout the year by attending Essential Theatre productions deemed appropriate for their varying age groups, as well as other suitable cultural and academic activities in the area.

Named in honor of Irene C. Edmonds, this program seeks to establish a disciplined and nurturing environment for today’s youth. Edmonds, a pioneer in African American Children’s Theatre, founded and directed the acclaimed FAMU Creative Children’s Theatre for twelve (12) years (1948-1960). She served the university and the state as a cultural role model from 1947-1968.

ICE CAMP INFORMATION

ICE CAMP DATES 2026:

• Monday, June 8 – Saturday, July 11, 2026

REGISTRATION PERIOD:

• Thursday, February 5 – Thursday, February 12, 2026
• Number of participants:  30 boys and girls, Ages 7-16 (must be 7 years old on or before June 8, 2026)
• Days & Times:  Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5: 00 p.m. 
• Meals:  Bring your lunch and snacks

FEES:

• Registration Fee: $750.00
• Cultural/Entertainment Excursion: $100.00 (Optional) Place: To Be Determined, Projected Dates: Friday June 19th or Friday June 26th
• Deposit: $100.00 (non-refundable) will hold space 

NOTE: THE $100 DEPOSIT CAN NOT BE PAID THROUGH PAYROLL DEDUCTION

• All FEES MUST BE PAID IN FULL / RECEIVED BY 5:00 pm on Thursday, MARCH 26, 2026 (including payroll deductions)
• Waiting list members must be prepared to PAY IN FULL by the deadline as well
• Participants are required to bring their own lunch and snacks
• Participants are required to attend the entire five-week session
• To register for this event your first payment must be at least $100.00

PAYMENT OPTIONS:

For your convenience, the following payment options are available:

1. Online payment in full (VISA or MasterCard only)

2. Online partial payments (VISA or MasterCard only). Enter the amount you want to pay. Payments must be received in full by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 otherwise your registration will be canceled

NOTE: If you make partial payments online, there can only be two total payments (the initial partial payment and the balance must be paid in the second payment).  However, if you need to make multiple partial payments contact Jacinda Turner at 850-599-3474 and she will process your credit card payment over the phone.  Also, if you are paying with a credit card, you will be charged a non-refundable $10 credit card convenience fee per transaction.

3. Payroll Deduction (FAMU employees only) - Please complete the FAMU Payroll Deduction Form and forward it (through DocuSign) to Dr. Phyllis Watson (phyllis.watson@famu.edu) in the Office of Continuing Education. Full payment must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 26, 2026 otherwise your registration will be canceled.

• Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Charles Winter Wood Theatre/Edmonds Stage located in Tucker Hall

PERFORMANCE DATES FOR CLOSING PRODUCTION:

• Friday, July 10, 2026, at 10 a.m.
• Friday, July 10, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 2 p.m.

All performances will be held at Charles Winter Wood Theatre/Edmonds Stage located in Tucker Hall
