Marking a historic milestone for the Annual
New Mexico Water Conference

The New Mexico Water Resources Research Institute invites water professionals, students, policymakers, Tribal representatives, community leaders, and other stakeholders to join us for the 71st Annual New Mexico Water Conference. This year's theme, Investing in New Mexico's Water Future, highlights the importance of advancing scientific research, innovative management strategies, and collaborative partnerships to address the state's evolving water challenges. The conference will showcase the work of researchers, water managers, engineers, agricultural producers, utilities, and decision-makers who are investing in resilient water systems and translating research into practical solutions that benefit communities across New Mexico. Building on a tradition that began with the first New Mexico Water Conference in 1956, this year's program continues to foster the exchange of knowledge needed to support informed, science-based water management.

The 71st Annual New Mexico Water Conference will be held November 11–13, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Albuquerque. The conference will begin on Wednesday, November 11, at 5:30PM with our Welcome Reception, to provide an opportunity for attendees to connect and network. The main conference sessions will begin on Thursday, November 12, and Friday, November 13 will feature presentations and panel discussions highlighting current research, innovative water management practices, policy developments, and collaborative efforts shaping New Mexico’s water future.
