ABOUT THE SCHOOL

For more than 50 years, the Alabama Banking School has used a combination of highly qualified instructors and a rigorous curriculum to teach bankers how to manage a bank and its employees while also understanding how bank departments coexist. Students will learn how to make financial decisions and understand ramifications of the economic environment on the business of banking. The course of study spans 24 months with three, one-week resident sessions each year. During the resident sessions, students spend at least 40 hours in the classroom and review case studies in the evenings. Between sessions, students are required to complete home study problems as a part of the comprehensive program.

BANKEXEC

In the third year, students participate in the BankExec simulation, acting as senior bank officers. Working in teams, they make operating, lending, and pricing decisions that impact profitability and stock price. The simulation provides feedback, requiring adjustments based on competition, the economy, and regulations. Good decisions boost profits and stock value, while poor choices lower them. Each team presents to a panel of judges, graduating with a strong grasp of banking decision-making.
