Course Overview

Course Description

This course will provide an overview of how organizations can work together in collaborative projects and partnerships. Collaboration is a complex art form, and participants will identify current projects and how to better assess their challenges and successes.

Intended Audience

This course is intended for supervisors, managers, directors, and executive directors.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, you will be able to:  

• To learn about the degrees of working together
• To explore what organizations need to contribute to projects
• To discuss factors important in collaborative projects
• To highlight the content and process aspects of projects
• To determine evaluation methods

Instructor

Rose Mary Fry is a native of Ohio and she received an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Ohio Dominican College and a graduate degree in Staff and Organizational Development from Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She has extensive experience in the education, nonprofit, and for profit sectors. Since September 2010, she has worked as a nonprofit consultant focused on training and consulting services to new and established nonprofit organizations. Her previous position was as founding Executive Director of the Texas Nonprofit Management Assistance Network, a 501(c)(3) organization that helped identify and meet the needs of Texas nonprofits through work with nonprofit resource centers and academic providers in Texas. Previously, she was Executive Director of the Nonprofit Resource Center of Texas in San Antonio, the oldest resource center in the state. Her special interests are organizational change, the intersection of the nonprofit and for-profit worlds, and facilitation of small and large group meetings. She has been involved in the nonprofit sector as a volunteer for forty-two years with a particular interest in the arts, education, and women and children’s issues. She was the first Licensed Consultant for the Standards for Excellence program in Texas. Her experiences as a practitioner, trainer, and consultant give her a unique perspective on the opportunities and challenges facing organizations.

Rose Mary has served as past Vice President and Executive Committee Member of the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, Board President of Impact San Antonio, Board President of ACCION Texas, Board President of Texas Public Radio, Board Member of the Children’s Bereavement Center of South Texas, Co-Chair of Say Si Leadership Council, Campaign Chair of Say Si’s Capital Campaign, President of the Hollow at Inwood Homeowners Association, Chair of the National Alumni Advisory Board for Ohio Dominican University and Board Member of ACCION Network. She was a member of San Antonio 100 and Masters Leadership Alumni Association. She is a 2009 graduate of Class V of the Masters Leadership Program in San Antonio and Bexar County and a member of Impact San Antonio. She was a 2016 recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from Ohio Dominican University in Columbus, Ohio.

What happens if I am on a waitlist for a course? You will receive an email confirming you have been added to a waitlist. If a spot becomes available, you will be notified by email.  

CEU and CPE Policy
Attendance in this course can earn:

• 0.6 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
• 7.2 Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs)

Attendance is recorded at check-in at the start of the day, and full CEU or CPE credit is awarded based on an honor system, with the expectation that participants are present and actively engaged for the full MAPS course.

Course Certificate
Your course certificate will be emailed to you following the course. It will reflect your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Professional Education Units (CPEs) earned and your attendance of the course. 

Photography
The Ohio State University may occasionally take pictures during educational events for use in program communication. If you do not want to be photographed during this course, please email the MAPS team at glenn-training@osu.edu.

MAPS Membership 
A MAPS member receives a discounted rate of $250 for each course with the initial purchase of at least 12 credits. Each credit equals one course for one individual.
