CNG fuel systems employ unique components and require special safety procedures for all levels of routine maintenance, diagnostics and repair. Natural gas behaves differently than gasoline or diesel fuel, and portions of a CNG fuel system operate at extremely high pressure.

CNG storage cylinders must be visually inspected at federally mandated intervals. NGV industry best practice calls for a concurrent inspection of the entire CNG fuel system. These CNG fuel system inspections must be conducted by well-trained and qualified technicians.
