2025 Conference on Excited State Processes

June 16, 2025 – June 19, 2025
8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Hotel Santa Fe

1501 Paseo de Peralta
Santa Fe, NM 87501

The conference on excited state processes focuses on the fundamental photoinduced phenomena in various electronic and bio nanostructured materials. The previous ESP meetings organized by LANL took place at Los Alamos and Santa FE (NM) in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2023.

The scope of the ESP 2025 conference is a variety of excited state phenomena in technologically important materials and biosystems, including size-dependent and time-dependent electronic interactions, excited state dynamics, quantum confinement, and carrier transport, emphasizing similarity of the phenomena rather than specifics of the systems.

Topics Include:

  • Organic and polymeric materials (photophysics, chemistry, energy and charge transport)
  • Low-dimensional materials (chemical functionalization, ultrafast processes and functional devices)
  • Organo-metallic complexes (excited state potentials and photocatalysis)
  • Semiconductor nanocrystals and metal nanoparticles (from structures to physical phenomena)
  • Biosystems (conformations, energy/charge transport, spectroscopy and photosynthesis)
  • Organic-inorganic perovskite nanostructures (physics, chemistry and devices)
  • Energy transfer phenomena and chemo- / bio-sensor applications
  • Data science for excited states and non-equilibrium dynamics.

Early bird Registration Fee is $300 before May 5, 2025 ($150 for students and postdocs). Please register below.

We intend to support junior researcher (postdocs and students) presenting at the ESP2025 conference. Selective awards will be made up to $800 toward travel expenses (e.g., hotel and airfare). To apply to this funding, please:

1) Register before May 5 (http://cnls.lanl.gov/esp2025), taking an advantage of reduced registration fee $150 for junior researchers (use students and postdoc option in reservation);

2) Send an e-mail to Sergei Tretiak (serg@lanl.gov) and Tammie Gibson (tammien@lanl.gov) with a brief explanation of financial need and attach your title/abstract.

**Recommended poster size is 48" x 36"**
