Course Description (2 course options): 

Course 1: Occupational Health Nursing Basics:

Provides an overview of key concepts and issues for consideration for the occupational health nurse.  This is a great course for new occupational health nurses, as well as nurses wanting a refresher or overview to the key topics for the discipline.  2 1/2 days, 100% in-person course. 

Course 2: Certified Occupational Health Nurse Review Course:

An interactive, in-person learning experience designed to lead registered nurses through a guided study prep for the COHN and COHN-S exam. The course work will be extensive with additional study material provided for continued prep after the course and prior to the exam. This course will provide a systematic review based on the COHN and COHN-S handbooks, as well as test taking and knowledge retention on the legal, ethical, and regulatory issues surrounding the occupational health nurse role, which includes hands on care to program and case management. This course is 100% in-person.

Course Schedule: 

Course 1: October 19-21, 8am-5pm Monday - Tuesday and 8am-12:00pm Wednesday. Lunch will be provided Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday if taking course 2.

Course 2: October 21- 23, Wednesday 1pm-5pm, Thursday and Friday 8am-5pm. Lunch provided Wednesday if taking Course 1, otherwise lunch on Thursday and Friday.  

Nursing Contact Hours: This nursing continuing professional development activity is reviewed for approval by North Carolina Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
