Certified Healthcare Operations Professional - Basic (CHOP-B) (Lunch Provided)

In-person Course

CHOP-B is the first of our CHOP series and has been developed to be beneficial for anyone interested in, or involved with, the healthcare physical environment.

CHOP-B Course

The CHOP-B course consists of three (3) days of instructor-led classroom training designed to provide a basic foundation for understanding the operation of the physical environment for healthcare professionals. CHOP-B also provides the opportunity to become certified for those that meet the experience criteria.

CHOP-B Certification Requirements

Individuals who wish to become CHOP-B certified must meet minimum qualifications for experience and successfully pass the CHOP-B examination with a score of 80%.

Exam Prerequisites:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Three (3) years of Associated Physical Environment Experience*, two (2) years of which must have been in a healthcare setting.

* Associated Physical Environment Experience refers to work experience in the following functional areas: ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, Facilities, Life Safety Management, Safety Management, Security Management, Hazard Materials Management, Emergency Management, Medical Equipment and Utility Management Systems.

Completion of this course offers 20 hours of Continuing Education.

Exam

Qualified individuals will receive an email after the course with a link to the examination. The exam is administered on-line with immediate feedback on the results.

· If a passing score of 80% or more is achieved, a certificate will be issued.

· If the exam score is less than 80% the applicant may retake the exam after 30 days from the last attempt by reapplying and paying a fee. Retake exams are offered periodically throughout the year.

Certification Terms

The CHOP- B certification is valid for a 3-year period. At the end of this period, there will be the option to renew your certification with a fee and submission of 40 continuing education hours or to recertify by retaking the exam.

Maintaining CHOP-B certification also qualifies an individual to pursue our Advanced (CHOP-A), and Executive (CHOP-E) certifications.
