The first Australian Anterior Hip Foundation meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026 from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm at the Park Hyatt Melbourne. This will combine with the Australian Hip Joint Preservation Society.
The Anterior Hip Foundation was founded by Joel Matta, the pioneer of Anterior Approach Surgery in the USA and a global leader in the approach. The AHF is a collaborative between orthopaedic surgeons aiming to continue improving patient care.
The Anterior Hip Foundation (AHF) operates as a non-profit organisation. It's mission is made possible through the support of sponsors and donors who share a vision for continuous improvement in hip surgery.
This is the first Australian AHF meeting and will capitalise on the opportunity to include leading anterior hip surgeons who are present in Melbourne, attending the International Hip Society meeting.
The following International Surgeons will speak on various aspects of Anterior Approach Hip Surgery including surgical technique (on and off table), complex hip surgery using DA approach, Revision hip surgery using DA approach, managing unforeseen complications, resurfacing through the anterior approach and tips and tricks. Speakers include Joel Matta, Michael Leunig, Paul Beaule, Justin Cobb and Kristoff Corten. Local Faculty include Michael Solomon, Jit Balakumar and Lachie Milne.
The Australian Hip Joint Preservation Society is pleased to include Prof Michael Millis (Boston Children’s Hospital) as well as Prof John Timperley (Exeter Hip unit) to add to a high powered morning meeting.
