The BRAIN Initiative will hold a workshop for trainees on transitioning to independence, sponsored by the Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies® (BRAIN) Initiative. The workshop, entitled “The Next Generation of NIH BRAIN Initiative Leaders: Making the Transition”, is scheduled to take place virtually on October 26, 2022  (1:00 pm – 5:00 pm ET).  The workshop will bring together F32, K99/R00, DSPAN and diversity supplement grantees funded through the NIH BRAIN Initiative who are approaching or at the early stages of independence to learn about making a successful faculty transition. The format will be panel and breakout discussions. Panelists will include junior faculty who have experience with recent transitions, senior faculty with current understanding of institutional hiring practices, and NIH staff. The goal is to provide participants with a variety of perspectives on topics including but not limited to application and interview preparation, building an independent research program, and issues raised through attendee questions. There will also be opportunities for networking.
