Join us September 18-19, 2026, in Anchorage for AASB's Statewide Charter School Academy – Alaska's only statewide conference dedicated to charter school leadership.

AASB is partnering with the Anchorage School District to bring together charter school principals and Academic Policy Committee (APC) members from across the state for two days of learning, collaboration, and networking.

Designed specifically for Alaska charter school leaders, this academy will strengthen your knowledge, build your leadership skills, and provide practical tools to support effective governance and student success.

You'll have the opportunity to:

• Strengthen your understanding of APC roles and responsibilities.
• Learn strategies for effective governance and productive meetings.
• Improve communication with your school community and district.
• Connect with charter school leaders from across Alaska to share ideas and best practices.

• Communication with School Communities
• Goal Setting and Continuous Improvement

• Friday September 18: 8:30 am-12 pm – Charter School Principals
• Friday, September 18: 1 pm-4 pm – APC Members & Principals
• Saturday, September 19: 8:30 am-4 pm – APC Members & Principals

Fees

There are two ways to register for AASB's Charter School Academy:

Individual Registration: Register each attendee at the standard registration fee of:

• Regular AASB Member Districts: $390 for principals & $240 for APC Members 
• Affiliate Members:  $470 for principals & $290 for Affiliate Members

Group Registration: Register as a school team (must include principal and APC members), and benefit from a special rate of $1000 AASB for Member Districts & $1200 for AASB Affiliate Member Districts. 

Please select the registration option that best fits your needs. If you select the Group Registration rate, AASB will reach out to you for additional details.

Anchorage School District (ASD) Charter Schools

There is no additional charge for ASD Charter School attendees (principals & APC members),
but we still need ASD Charter School attendees to register through the registration site.

AASB Cancellation Policy

If an attendee is unable to make an event or make a substitution, the following applies:

Up to five (5) business days prior to the event, with written notice, registrants may cancel for a full refund. Please send cancellation requests via email to cottoson@aasb.org. Telephone requests will not be honored.

• Cancellations received within five (5) business days of the event will incur a cancellation fee of $115 as food and materials have been ordered on your behalf.
• There are no refunds for no-shows. No-shows will incur a fee of $115 as food and materials have been ordered on your behalf.
• Exceptions may be made to this policy on a case-by-case basis by AASB. This request must be made in writing by email to cottoson@aasb.org.
