The NSF SecureCloud Project: Autonomic Cybersecurity for Zero Trust Cloud Computing

Presented by Casimer DeCusatis, assistant professor, Marist College

2:00 PM-3:00 PM

Are you prepared to defend against a cyberattack in a cloud computing environment?

Cyberinfrastructure is undergoing a radical transformation as traditional enterprise data centers are being replaced by cloud computing environments –- and with this brings tremendous challenges. Join us for the next NYSERNet Conference Extended (TNConX) webinar as Marist College’s Professor Casimer DeCusatis walks you through the research results from the NSF SecureCloud Project, which specifically addresses the unique requirements of cloud security using autonomic, zero trust architecture.

Dr. Casimer DeCusatis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics, Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY.

The security requirements of a cloud-hosted environment are quite different from traditional ones. Cloud-hosted applications regularly access data that resides outside of a traditional security perimeter, and because cloud applications tend to have much larger attack surfaces, automated defenses are critical in addressing the growing number and severity of cyber threats.

This hour-long webinar will walk TNConX participants through the creation of original software for the NSF SecureCloud Project, which has already been tested in pre-production using a first-of-its kind cybersecurity test bed constructed at the New York State Cloud Computing & Analytics Center at Marist College. Loaded with options, the result demonstrates threat intelligences, automatically identifies potential threats and responds by deploying security policies in real time using cutting-edge innovation. TNConX participants will not only benefit from DeCusatis’ expertise but will have the chance to be a part of valuable peer-to-peer information exchange.

We need your know-how! The technical networks NYSERNet builds are only as effective as our community network, so contact us if you’d be interested in sharing your latest projects, accomplishments, research or best practices during one of NYSERNet’s 2019 TNConX webinars.
