Please join Manhattan Institute’s Metropolitan Society for a special dinner and conversation celebrating the upcoming release of MI senior fellow Gail Heriot's new book, Why We Walk on Eggshells.
In Why We Walk on Eggshells, releasing November 3, Heriot argues that laws intended to combat discrimination have also discouraged candid discussion. She traces how legislation and court decisions helped fuel the rise of DEI and a culture of self-censorship in workplaces, universities, and American public life.
Heriot will be joined by MI senior fellow Jason Riley to discuss these unintended consequences, the tension between preventing discrimination and protecting open debate, and what it would take to restore a commitment to equal opportunity.
We hope you will join us for this thought-provoking discussion.
