Registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2026, OR once registration has met capacity.
*NOTE: Individuals who are not currently CASOMB Certified and/or in the process of CASOMB Recertification will not receive their SARATSO Certificate or access to GEARS until CASOMB certification is attained. It is incumbent upon the participant to notify SARATSO Training Coordinators when CASOMB certification is approved, in the form of a current CASOMB Certificate.
This one-day, 8-hour training is for beginners who are not certified to score the LS/CMI and for those who need re-certification in the LS/CMI. Participants will receive training in administering, scoring and interpreting the LS/CMI. This training will also provide a brief overview on uploading the LS/CMI directly to the GEARS website. Per SARATSO policy, LS/CMI training is required every 2 years to certify or re-certify scorers.
Prior to the training, participants are required to order the:
· LS/CMI User Manual (LSCM04) or LS/CMI Scoring Guide (LSCM05) from Multi-Health Systems (www.MHS.com).
The Manual is required for the class, and for scoring the tool after you are certified. If licensed, you may order by calling Multi-Health Systems at 1 (800) 456-3003 or go to www.MHS.com and request the Manual (LSCM04 or LSCM05).
If unlicensed, please note that you will need to borrow a copy of the manual from your agency. It is important that participants have access to pages 9-22 of the user manual for this training.
SARATSO will provide hard copies of the training materials to participants. These materials will be referenced throughout the class and is essential to the participants’ training experience when scoring practice cases with peers and the instructor.
The State Authorized Risk Assessment Tools for Sex Offenders (SARATSO) unit is an approved provider of Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) and Board of Psychology (BOP) continuing education credits by the American Psychological Association (APA). Please note that there will be specific instructions in order to receive credit and certification of attendance in the course. No partial CE’s will be provided; participants are required to attend the training in its entirety in order to receive the total number of CE credits (8 hours).
In order to become certified, participants must pass the post-test vignette. Upon passing the course, participants will receive an invite to the G.E.A.R.S. platform. If the participant fails the course, they will need to take the next Basic class that is available, and pass the post-test vignette, in order to become certified. Remediation may be granted at the discretion of the instructor. Specific instruction for this course will be provided once registration is complete.
Please note that participants will have a 10-minute grace period in which they may arrive late to the training. Participants arriving more than 10 minutes late will no longer be eligible to attend and will not obtain CE credits. No refund will be provided.
