COURSE OVERVIEW
This course will define memory theories and help participants learn about the three memory processes: encoding, storage, and retrieval. By the end of the course, participants will be able to explicitly teach strategies and incorporate them into their daily practices to develop students’ encoding and storage skills and, most importantly, their ability to recall information.

Expected Learning Outcomes
- Classify specific memory theories related to encoding, storage, and retrieval.
- Evaluate some of the well-known memory theories and how they are important in the classroom.
- Apply your knowledge of each theory to your lesson planning processes.
- Applying each of these theories to specific strategies you can add to your classroom lessons to help students recall content knowledge.
- Plan for implementation by completing an action plan that supports your classroom practices.
- Critique, analyze, and summarize specific articles, resources, and studies related to memory theories.
- Build and describe the use of a resource that supports a strategy you plan to use in your upcoming lesson.
- Plan and build a Classroom Implementation Plan for immediate classroom use by planning for the concepts you learned in this course
Methods of Instruction: tests, personal goal-setting, reflections on articles/videos, class collaboration, a cumulative project, and a final practicum. This course is delivered entirely online.
