Understanding the relationship between emotional wellness and how we serve leads to new approaches that benefit all parties. Culture and wellness are interdependent and must become a national priority. Wellness is not a program. It is an agency decision that starts with how first responders are treated and begins with effective leadership. This can also be called trauma-informed leadership. It means that you, as a leader, must see each employee's circumstances through the lens of trauma by recognizing that most first responders will experience more than 180 critical incidents in their careers. Having experienced trauma doesn't excuse your behavior; it explains it. How can we equip our employees to grow their emotional competency? This program will answer that.

We'll discuss how critically important it is for leaders to understand the importance of comprehensive wellness for first responders as they regularly perform in high-stress environments. While physical fitness remains an important aspect of wellness, emotional, spiritual, and financial wellness are equally important cornerstones toward maintaining healthy team members to provide optimal levels of service to constituents. Leaders can develop low-cost programs and strategies that will facilitate healthier employees thus reducing discipline and lost time from work while increasing morale and productivity, and we'll show you how.
