Register for the 2025 AAMC Principal Business Officers’ (PBO) Meeting

Join your colleagues in Milwaukee, WI this September for an engaging, forward-focused experience designed specifically for business leaders in academic medicine. This year’s theme—Leadership and Organizational Dynamics in a Period of Change—reflects the evolving challenges and opportunities you face as stewards of institutional strategy, people, and performance.

Throughout the conference, you’ll explore timely topics like change management, compensation equity, AI in operations, funds flow, and infrastructure optimization. Sessions are crafted to include space for dialogue, resilience-building, and peer learning—with plenty of actionable insights and examples from fellow Principal Business Officers (PBOs).

Whether you're navigating new leadership dynamics, working across missions, or thinking ahead to future funding disruptions, this is the place to voice shared challenges and align with others who want to find solutions.

What to Expect at This Year’s Meeting

  • Insightful Sessions & Peer Spotlights: From stories of leading change to strategies for navigating sensitivities in compensation conversations, hear what’s working—and what’s still evolving—at peer institutions.
  • Hands-On Exploration of Emerging Tools: Discover how AI is already helping schools overcome operational bottlenecks and how it might support your own workforce and strategic goals.
  • Actionable Leadership Development: Gain tools to support your team’s well-being, foster a resilient culture, and drive performance—even amid uncertainty.
  • Timely Updates from Washington: Get the latest on federal policies affecting funding and workforce development.
  • Curated Discussions: Connect during small-group sessions and our signature World Café to share experiences, dig into questions, and leave with new perspectives.

Bring a Colleague and Build Capacity
To support leadership development and succession planning, PBOs are encouraged to bring one senior-level colleague as a full participant in the conference. The meeting is designed for high-level finance leaders in dean’s offices and includes interactive discussions that benefit from diverse, peer-level participation. To maintain a meaningful and balanced experience, attendance is limited to no more than two participants per school. Your colleague should register separately as a full meeting attendee.

Mark your calendar and make plans to join us in Milwaukee—where strategy, connection, and leadership come together.
