Overview
This program will review the pharmaceutical services condition of participation and other regulatory areas that require pharmacist input and participation, such as antibiotic stewardship, medicine-administration timing policies, medicine self-administration and standing orders. Medicine errors account for a substantial number of medical errors in health care and are the most common reason for unnecessary hospital readmissions. This program will discuss medicine errors, adverse events, drug incompatibilities, self‐administered medicine and required medicine policies.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- describe Centers for Medicare & Medicaid requirements for pharmaceutical services
- describe minimum security requirements
- explain basic required policies and procedures
- explain patient safety measures for medicines
