The Maximizing Impact and Networks for Faculty Advancement and Community (MINFAC) Leadership Development Seminar equips junior faculty with essential tools and real-world guidance for advancing in academic medicine. Rooted in a strengths-based approach that acknowledges the historical and cultural experiences of its participants, MINFAC fosters leadership, career development, grant writing, and communication skills while expanding professional networks. For over 30 years, this seminar has helped faculty navigate the “hidden curriculum” of academic success through tailored programming and mentorship. Led by accomplished alumni and experts, MINFAC provides an interactive, empowering experience designed to support career growth and long-term impact. 

What to Expect

At the completion of the seminar, participants will be able to:

• Identify professional development goals, design a career path, and gain tools to help achieve them.
• Understand the realities of advancement in academic medicine through the exploration of the requirements for appointment, promotion, and tenure, and how to plan your own progress through the system. 
• Develop key professional competencies in academic and organizational leadership. 
• Build skills in grant writing and communications. 
• Expand your network of colleagues and role models.

Who Should Attend?

Junior faculty (senior clinical and research fellows, instructors, and assistant professors) and post docs (MD, DO/PhD and PhD) who aspire to leadership positions, and seek information and community support navigating academic medicine.
