Course Description
Extraordinary changes as a result of the merging between digital dentistry and imaging technology are transforming the way single-tooth implant dentistry is planned, sequenced, and executed. This course will provide an overview of significant developments that have occurred recently related to implant selection, case planning, placement, and restoration of single-tooth implant restorations. Specific focus will be given to the transformation of workflows at various phases from analog to digital environments, based on current evidence, and how the general dentist can leverage such technologies and workflows to optimize patient-centered care.
Objectives:
- Understand the increasing role of digital technologies in data acquisition, case planning, and execution of single-tooth replacement therapy.
- Understand the influence that unique internal implant interfaces have on facilitating digital implant workflows.
- Review current evidence-based rationale for implant-abutment designs that optimize periimplant bone and soft-tissue outcomes.
- Identify the influence that implant provisionalization plays in optimizing peri-implant mucosal outcomes following surgery, and how digital workflows enable connecting immediate implant provisional restorations to guided implant surgery to guide soft-tissue maturation and digital abutment design.
