SESSION OVERVIEW

This session will provide foundational guidance to assess corporate culture as well as strategies and tactics to conform with the new topical requirement released by the IIA.

The session will outline the key elements of culture and its impact on driving business outcomes. Attributes and characteristics of strong ethical cultures will be presented. Principal elements from the soon-to-be-effective topical requirement on Organizational Behavior will be outlined. The presentation will conclude with practical strategies and approaches to deliver high value insights and assessments on behavioral alignment.

 

FACILITATORS

 

Robert Kuling, Principal, VLBR Holdings

Robert is a former regional leader in MNP's Enterprise Risk Services practice delivering internal audit, risk management, governance, and regulatory services. He was a partner at Deloitte and Chief Audit Executive at several Canadian organizations including Tervita, Viterra, TransAlta, and Precision Drilling. He has also held audit management positions with Farm Credit Canada and Provincial Auditor of Saskatchewan. Robert has experience in multiple industry sectors including federal and provincial ministries, financial institutions, health care, energy, private sector, municipalities, transportation, regulators, and post-secondary.

He has served on private, public, and non-profit boards in numerous leadership capacities including Board Chair and Audit Committee. As an international leader with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), Robert has served on the Global Board, Chairman of the North American Board, as well as numerous committees and task forces. Nationally, he is a member of the Trans Canada Trail Board of Directors and currently serves as the Audit Committee Chair. Recently, he was appointed to the Professional Conduct Committee of CPA Saskatchewan.

Robert has been a national spokesman for governance, risk, and internal audit issues with regulators, professional associations, training firms, and government organizations. He is an approved facilitator with the IIA has provided training and insight for thousands of internal auditors, risk professionals, compliance leaders, and corporate boards. Robert has a deep understanding of risks, controls and governance challenges faced by organizations in numerous sectors and has extensive knowledge of the Global Internal Audit Standards
