Going green at the CSAE Conference 2023

This year we're going green at the CSAE Conference. This means that we're working with St Catherine's College to make the event as waste free as possible.

What are we doing?

No printing

The CSAE App is back in 2023 and this means that we won't need to print out any materials for our participants. Everything you'll need to know will be at your fingertips via the app.

We'll also have digital display screens dotted around the campus and friendly helpers at hand to answer any questions.

No disposable cups

We won't be supplying disposable cups for water at this year's event, instead we're asking you to bring your own water bottle to refill at various water stations located across St Catherine's. Not got a water bottle? You're in luck because we have our own CSAE stainless steel water bottles that you can buy via registration (£7.50) to pick up at the event (we have four colours to choose from).

Sustainability at St Catherine's College

Food

All food is sourced sustainably at St Catherine's, and they seek continual improvements to reduce environmental impact and food miles. Food waste is also minimised.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

In every aspect of the operation of St Catherine's, they seek to minimise use of materials and resources.

They recycle two thirds of their waste, and are improving their composting. Single-use plastics are minimised.

Water and Energy

All the electricity at St Catherine's comes from renewable sources.

They are also actively looking at ways to reduce consumption of utilities and improve efficiency through infrastructure improvements, and control and monitoring systems.

Energy efficiency initiatives have included improving controls, insulation, solar panels and installation of LED lighting.
