Judicial leadership extends far beyond the courtroom. Every interaction with court staff, attorneys, community partners, and fellow judges contributes to the culture of the organization and influences how change occurs throughout the justice system. This interactive workshop explores how Motivational Interviewing (MI) principles can enhance partnership, strengthen professional relationships, and foster collaboration within court organizations. Participants will learn how to apply MI when providing feedback, navigating difficult conversations, and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary partners.
The workshop also examines practical strategies for developing an organizational culture that reflects the principles of respect, partnership, empathy, and continuous improvement. Through discussion, demonstrations, and skill-building activities, participants will leave with practical tools for modeling MI-informed conversations and supporting meaningful organizational change.
