The Minority Health Conference, the largest and longest-running student-led health conference in the country, aims to raise awareness around minority health and mobilize students, academics, and community members to take action for change. The conference was founded in 1977 and is led by students at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, UNC-Chapel Hill.

We are excited to announce this year’s theme: Beyond Borders: Reimagining Health in a Globalized World.

The 2027 conference will center on the theme of Beyond Borders: Reimagining Health in a Globalized World. Our focus is on how globalization is reshaping the health of historically marginalized communities through public health, lived experiences, and ways of knowing. Today's health challenges transcend borders, so the partnerships, ideas, and solutions needed to advance health equity must transcend them too. By looking beyond borders, we aim to strengthen partnerships across communities, disciplines, and sectors while elevating the knowledge, innovation, and leadership that already exist within historically marginalized communities.

Important Information About Registration Fees

To ensure the long-term sustainability of this conference, we have made a modest increase to registration fees. Registration fees have never covered the full cost of attendance. Historically, the difference has been offset through student-led fundraising efforts. However, fundraising revenue has declined in recent years, making it necessary to adjust registration fees so that we can continue offering this valuable educational and networking opportunity while maintaining the quality of the conference experience.

Student Registration Support

Thanks to a generous contribution from the Carolina Student Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) and the Graduate & Professional Student Government (GPSG) in support of student participation, we are pleased to offer a deeply discounted student registration rate of just $15 this year. Their support helps ensure that cost is not a barrier for students who wish to attend and benefit from the conference.

Support the UNC Minority Health Conference

For nearly 50 years, the UNC Minority Health Conference has served as a premier forum for bringing together community leaders, researchers, clinicians, policymakers, students, entrepreneurs, and advocates to discuss critical issues affecting health equity and public health.

As a student-led conference, the UNC Minority Health Conference relies heavily on sponsorships, exhibitor support, and charitable contributions to remain accessible and sustainable. Registration fees alone do not cover the full cost of planning and hosting the conference. Support from sponsors and donors helps offset event expenses, subsidize registration fees, bring distinguished speakers and panelists to the conference, and ensure that we can continue providing this impactful educational experience for future generations.

In recent years, fundraising revenue has declined while conference costs have continued to increase. As a result, community support has become more important than ever. Every contribution, regardless of size, plays a vital role in advancing our mission, increasing access to the conference, and sustaining the event's nearly 50-year legacy.

We are grateful to the organizations, exhibitors, sponsors, and individual donors whose support makes this conference possible. Your investment helps ensure the continued success and long-term sustainability of the UNC Minority Health Conference for years to come.
