Class Description:
Identify the anatomy of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) including joint surfaces, discs, ligaments, and related neurovascular structures. Describe common causes and patterns of TMJ dysfunction, including muscular imbalance, posture, stress, airway influences, and parafunctional habits. Explain the functional relationships among the jaw, cervical spine, hyoid complex, cranial structures, and diaphragmatic breathing. Perform comprehensive palpation of TMJ, cranial, facial, suprahyoid, infrahyoid, and cervical soft tissues.
Please arrive 15 minutes early the first day to register and set up.
What to Bring and attire :
Wear comfortable clothes to be on and off the massage tables. Bring your massage table, sheets, lubricant, a pen, and a water bottle. You will be working intraorally so you may wish to bring gloves, though they will be provided
We welcome all NYS licensed massage therapists, NYS professionals who are licensed to provide massage (physicians, nurses, podiatrists, physical therapists, chiropractors) and currently enrolled massage therapy students to our classes. Per New York State law, you must either have a New York State license to participate in the hands-on portions or, in the case of massage therapy students, be directly supervised by your instructor or other licensed massage therapist.

Cancellations:
Cancellations of more than 14 days prior to a class are eligible for a refund minus a $75 administrative fee. Cancellations less than 14 days are not refundable. No shows are not eligible for refund. Cancellations are based on post mark or email date and all cancellations must be in writing. Exceptions made only with approval of the AMTA-NY Chapter Board of Directors. Continuing Education Credit Certificates given only upon successful completion of class. No partial credit will be issued. Partial refunds for non-completed classes given only in emergency situations and with Chapter President’s approval.
