Strength & Conditioning Training for Dancers: Bridging the Gap Between Dance Medicine and Team Sports Training

Jason Harrison, CSCS

Course Dates: September 15, 2024 - September 14, 2027

Learning Format: Asynchronous/On-Demand

Learning Hours: 3 hours

Content Description: Despite the widespread Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) credential among physical therapists, there is still limited crossover between dance medicine specialists and strength and conditioning professionals. Cultural resistance within the dance community, due to various factors, often hinders the adoption of strength and conditioning practices. This 3-hour course aims to enhance understanding of cross-training habits and the obstacles to their acceptance in the dance world. It is crucial for healthcare professionals working with dancers to incorporate evidence-based strength and conditioning into their rehabilitative approaches. Additionally, educators and coaches must be well-versed in best practices for effectively implementing these techniques to support dancers’ health and performance.
