Conflict is a natural part of working in academic medicine, where differing perspectives, priorities, and experiences often intersect. While conflict can be challenging, the way we respond to it can determine whether it becomes a barrier or an opportunity for growth and collaboration. The Transforming Conflict into Collaboration Virtual Workshop helps participants build the skills and self-awareness needed to navigate difficult conversations with confidence, understand their personal conflict patterns and triggers, and apply practical strategies to de-escalate tension, strengthen relationships, and foster a more respectful and productive workplace. 

What to Expect

The Transforming Conflict into Collaboration Virtual Workshop is a highly interactive experience, delivered in two 105-minute sessions, where you’ll explore new ways to manage conflict more effectively from the comfort of your home or office. 

Prior to the workshop, you’ll complete the Conflict Dynamics Profile assessment where you will:

  • Learn more about how you respond to conflict
  • Identify your personal triggers which can help you avoid conflict escalation

During the workshop, you’ll apply the knowledge you’ve gained from your assessment through:

  • Taking part in experiential exercises focused on real-life challenges  
  • Engaging in insightful discussions with your peers in academic medicine
  • Exploring how to transform conflict into opportunities for collaboration and problem-solving

Workshops are limited to 60 participants to provide an intimate and interactive experience for our attendees.

Who Should Attend

This introductory workshop is ideal for any faculty or staff who has not had formal training in conflict management or is interested in brushing up on their skills.

To register for and attend an AAMC meeting, you must be affiliated with an AAMC member institution. Please note that commercial representatives are not permitted to register for the meeting.
