Who It’s For:

This course is designed for Water Restoration Technicians and professionals in Remediation Services, Property Management, Property Restoration, IEQ Investigation, or other related fields who want to enhance their technical and practical skills in structural drying.

Work It Supports:

This isn’t your typical classroom experience — it’s true hands-on training. You’ll step into a 2,000-square-foot flood house and gain real-world experience restoring and drying a water-damaged structure. Through practical exercises, you’ll develop the confidence and skillset needed to handle even the most challenging drying projects.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This experiential learning course incorporates over 50 types of building materials, including hardwood flooring, to demonstrate the principles and applications of structural drying. You’ll learn how to:

• Gain a deep understanding of the science and technology behind structural drying.

• Use humidity detectors and meters effectively to measure and monitor drying progress.

• Apply best practices for equipment setup, installation, and daily adjustments.

• Accurately document drying conditions and results to ensure consistent and verifiable outcomes.

• Operate field equipment confidently, including detection instruments, extraction systems, dehumidifiers, air movers, and heating tools.

• Perform and analyze air and material moisture measurements to make informed, data-driven drying decisions.

• Install and maintain drying equipment properly, making necessary daily adjustments to achieve optimal results.

DETAILS

Upon passing the final exam with a score of 75% or higher, you’ll earn your Applied Structural Drying Technician (ASD) certification.

This certification also fulfills one of the mandatory requirements for the Master Water Restorer Designation.

This course qualifies for 14 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) with the IICRC.
