IMPORTANT UPDATES ABOUT REMAINING HOUSING:
- We now have just a very few ADA compliant rooms remaining. If you need an accessible room please contact us BEFORE you register to make sure there are rooms left. All of the remaining accessible rooms have one queen bed
- In the youth hostel, there are no more full rooms for families of 4 of more left. If you are a family of 3 or fewer and would be willing to share a room with another family, please contact us BEFORE you register.
- As of June 19th there are still hotel rooms with one or two queen beds left.
- As of June 19th, there are still beds for individuals or couples left in the youth hostel building.
Join NHC on retreat this summer July 29-August 4 in our עִיר מִקְלָט “Ir Miklat: City of Refuge! ‘Tute ‘24 will include all the traditional elements of this flagship program: classes and workshops, services and davening, song, dance, and art; Kids Camp, the Talent Show, text study, snacks and time for napping, as well as evening and late night programs. Our goal is to be pleasantly busy with many options to choose from, down time, and no fear of missing out.
We will be hosted again this year by Pearlstone Jewish Retreat Center. Located half an hour west of Baltimore, Pearlstone is a Jewish retreat center that's the sister site of Isabella Freedman. They have a kosher kitchen and all of the gathering spaces (and most of the housing) are fully accessible. Other amenities include outdoor swimming pools, a fitness center, and hiking trails. There are a variety of housing options, ranging from hostel style rooms with bunk beds to hotel rooms with queen beds. We know how important it is to our community for us to be together for Shabbat, so this year’s institute’s dates encompass the full weekend. Unfortunately, Shabbat-only is not an option this year.
We have an exciting lineup of classes, a Liturgist and Artists in Residence and the Zeitler Fellowship is back this year, for the first time in five years.
This year’s theme of עִיר מִקְלָט “Ir Miklat: City of Refuge” can be found in a small corner of parshat Matot-Masei (Numbers 30:2 - 36:13). It epitomizes how we want this year’s institute to feel: a space where both the individual and the community at the heart of the Havurah ethos can come together in a safe space to create something meaningful, where our connections are welcoming and inclusive, fun and exciting, relaxing and energizing, and insightful and spiritually significant for our diverse community of participants.
