Hosted by Oxford alum Balraj Persaud, this online mindfulness session is for OBA Amsterdam Chapter members, particularly those under pressure, navigating change or curious about mindfulness.
A 45-minute, workshop-style talk will consider how pressure and sudden change recruit craving/avoidance, and how unwanted thoughts and uncomfortable emotions determine our lives precisely because we avoid them. Mindfulness, seen this way, doesn’t produce or promise control or certainty; rather, it gives us greater choice - a moment to intervene in an instinctive reaction (even if our choice is simply not to intervene).
The session will conclude with a 10-minute guided mindfulness-of-breathing exercise and leave time for questions.
No prior meditation experience is required.
Registrants will receive a zoom link and joining instructions prior to the event.
