Course Description:
Many of the defining moments in our lives are the result of accident or luck-but why would we leave our most meaningful, memorable moments to chance when we can create them? In this class we will examine what makes a particular moment unforgettable, and explore how we can create extraordinary moments for our students. Participants will read the book The Power of Moments by Chip & Dan Heath. The stories and strategies will help you move forward with your colleagues and students. We will focus on four types of moments to create in our schools: elevation, insight, pride, and connection. These four objectives will provide opportunities for you and your students to rise, change, achieve, demonstrate courage, and deepen relationships.
Note: The requirements are the same for license renewal and graduate credit. Participants need to complete all activities, assignments and reading whether license renewal or graduate credit.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understanding and creating moments of elevation that rise above the everyday.
2. Understanding and creating moments of insight that deliver realizations and change.
3. Understanding and creating moments of pride that capture courage and achievement.
4. Understanding and creating moments of connection that deepen our relationships with others.
