Overview
What does it take to move from a successful career in investment management to contributing effectively in the boardroom?
As boards navigate increasingly complex business, regulatory and stakeholder challenges, the need for diverse perspectives has never been greater. Board diversity can contribute to stronger decision-making, governance and organisational performance, while expanding the pool of board-ready talent remains an important lever for advancing inclusion in Singapore’s boardrooms.
Join Sacha Tong and Sarah Maynard for an engaging fireside chat exploring the pathway to board service. Designed for senior female CFA Society Singapore members and investment professionals, this session will examine what boards are looking for in today’s directors, the qualifications and attributes that support board readiness, and why CFA charterholders may be particularly well positioned to contribute in the boardroom.
The discussion will address the benefits and challenges of board service, practical steps to build relevant experience and visibility, and strategies for positioning yourself for future board opportunities. It will also explore the realities of fostering diversity of thought in environments where consensus may be valued, and why effective boards need to create space for constructive challenge and independent perspectives.
Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the Independent Director journey, actionable insights on preparing for board roles, and inspiration from leaders who are helping to shape more inclusive and effective governance in Singapore.
Note: This is an exclusive, by-invitation event for CFA Society Singapore Members. Registration is complimentary and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
