HUD In-Person Training | Indian Housing Law | SWONAP

This training provides Tribal housing professionals, Tribal leaders, and Tribally Designated Housing Entities (TDHEs) with an overview of Indian Housing Law and the legal framework governing Tribal housing programs. Topics include the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA), Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) requirements, Tribal sovereignty, procurement standards, occupancy policies, admissions and eviction procedures, environmental compliance, and HUD Office of Native American Programs (ONAP) regulations. Participants will gain a better understanding of legal responsibilities, compliance requirements, governance roles, and risk management strategies necessary to effectively administer Tribal housing programs and maintain compliance with federal regulations while supporting Tribal self-determination and housing goals.
