The Story Behind The Stage

Twenty-five conferences. One unforgettable stage.

What began as a way for trade compliance professionals to find one another has become a community that learns, shares, and shows up for each other.

Our story, still unfolding

After September 11, 2001, Ann Lister and Lynda Thomas met in a coffee shop with a contact list and a conviction: compliance professionals needed a place to turn to each other. Their idea grew into ICPA, an association built by the people who do the work.

Since its first conference in San Diego in 2003, ICPA has connected people across the trade profession through practical education and shared experience. This anniversary celebrates the members, speakers, and colleagues who made that community possible—and invites the next generation into the story.

A Network of People. A World of Knowledge.
