About the Meeting

The AAMC Mid-Career Minority Faculty Leadership Seminar addresses the needs of associate level faculty who are historically underrepresented in medicine through knowledge sharing, skill building, and strategy development for career advancement in academic medicine. Using a culturally responsive approach, this program offers networking opportunities, career development planning sessions, and small group consultations with senior faculty and leaders. The AAMC Mid-Career Minority Faculty Leadership Seminar includes a virtual orientation session followed by a 3 day in-person meeting. Attendees will:   

  • Assess professional development goals and identify strategies and tools for promotion and tenure
  • Develop key professional competencies in academic leadership
  • Enhance leadership skills in the areas of communication, team building, well-being, and life/work integration
  • Expand your network of colleagues, mentors, and sponsors
  • Participate in small group career consultation sessions with senior leaders conducted on-site.

Who Can Attend

No application is required to attend this seminar. Once you have completed the registration process, you are officially registered for the seminar. All associate professor level faculty are welcome to register if the program meets their professional development needs.

To register for and attend an AAMC meeting, you must be affiliated with an AAMC member institution, a non-profit medical education or professional organization, or a college or university. Please note that commercial representatives are not permitted to register for the meeting unless they are approved exhibitors or sponsors.
