Please join an Ostomy Education program in collaboration with Lions Gate Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital. The program will provide a practical learning experience for clinicians who support patients preparing for and recovering from ostomy surgery. Through foundational instruction, patient perspective, complication recognition, and hands-on product practice, participants will build the confidence and proficiency needed to provide consistent, safe, and compassionate care.

Learning Objectives

  1. Explain basic ostomy types, expected postoperative findings, routine pouching principles, and the clinician’s role 
  2. Recognize common ostomy complications, identify when escalation is required, and communicate concerns clearly to the NSWOC or surgical team 
  3. Provide practical nutrition, hydration, skin protection, and discharge teaching that reinforces the patient’s care plan. 
  4. Demonstrate greater proficiency with ostomy products and hands-on care while responding to patient concerns with empathy and confidence 
  5. Info about it being across CBUS – Central location – appealing central location (appeal to st pauls nurses)
