SUMMARY

India’s defence sector is witnessing growing energy requirements across military establishments, naval and air force bases, border infrastructure, and field and forward locations. The deployment of renewable energy sources, microgrids, and energy storage solutions holds the potential to enhance energy security and reduce dependence on conventional fuels in meeting defence energy needs. At the same time, challenges related to fuel availability, transportation and storage, as well as wider energy supply chain risks, need to be addressed to ensure a reliable power supply.

The mission of the conference is to understand the energy needs and requirements of defence, deliberate on the issues and challenges in meeting these needs, and also discuss potential solutions and strategies. It will also focus on the role of renewable energy sources, battery energy storage systems and microgrids in meeting the defence energy needs.
