Biblical Spirituality for the Laity:
The Liturgical Year
SEPTEMBER 11β13, 2026
AUGUSTINE INSTITUTE | FLORISSANT, MO
The Liturgical Year is more than a calendar β
itβs a spiritual roadmap, designed to form, sanctify, and guide the Church in every season of life.
Join us for a weekend retreat that invites you to live the Church year with refreshed intention, prayer, and joy.
What This Retreat Is About
In a beautiful confluence of Scripture and Tradition, the Liturgical Year is the Church's ultimate spiritual program. Guided by the Holy Spirit, Holy Mother Church has given us the season - Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary Time - as a sacred rhythm meant to shape and sanctify us.
This retreat will help you:
- See the Liturgical Year as a living framework for the Word of God
- Discover how each liturgical season invites you into deeper participation in the life of Christ
- Learn how to pray and live the seasons as a lay person, in family life, work, and community
- Reignite your love for the Eucharist, the calendar of feasts, and the Church's wisdom
The Church's year isn't just for priests and religious - it's a universal gift meant to form the soul of every baptized person.

"Within the cycle of a year, moreover, [the Church] unfolds the whole mystery of Christ, from the Incarnation and birth until the ascension, the day of Pentecost, and the expectation of blessed hope and the coming of the Lord.
Recalling thus the mysteries of redemption, the Church opens to the faithful the riches of her Lord's powers and merits, so that these are in some way made present for all time, and the faithful are enabled to lay hold upon them and become filled with saving grace."
- Sacrosanctum Concilium, 102
