Now that you have completed the FSPV: Fundamentals of Solar PV Design and Installation course, you qualify to sit for the NABCEP PV Associate Exam. Below is more information about the exam as well as how to sign up. Please note, NABCEP requires you to register for the exam through the Clean Tech Center within one (1) year of completing the FSPV course. To complete your registration for the exam, please download and fill out the Candidate Eligibility and Agreement Forms linked below. You will need to uploaded the completed forms during the registration process.

Information about Exam

  • Exam Prep: The FSPV course is organized to cover all of the content that you need for the exam. NABCEP also offers a practice exam (for a $45 fee) online at https://www.nabcep.org/resource/pva-practice-test/. The practice test is not required but is an excellent practice tool, especially if you are going to have a period of time between taking the class and sitting for the exam.
  • Exam Timeline: You can register for the NABCEP PV Associate exam at any time within one year after you complete an approved PV Associate course, such as Fundamentals of Solar PV Design and Installation (FSPV). 
  • Exam Format: You can either take your exam via Computer-Based Testing (CBT) format where you choose the date and time at a Meazure Learning Testing Facility or you can select the Live Remote Proctoring (LRP) format to take the test at a location of your choosing from your personal computer. You must meet the Technical Requirements to select this option. For more information about testing formats, please visit NABCEP's website. NCCETC does not currently offer Paper and Pencil (P&P)  testing format.

Registering for the Exam

Requirement: Only individuals who have completed the FSPV: Fundamentals of Solar PV Design and Installation course with the NC Clean Energy Technology Center are eligible to register to sit for the NABCEP PV Associate Exam through the Center. If you completed a similar course with another institution, you will need to register for the exam through them. If you have not completed the FSPV course, you do not qualify for the exam.

There are a few steps that must be completed before you can register to sit for the exam.

  1. First, you will need to download, complete, and upload the Candidate Eligibility and Agreement Forms during the registration process.
  2. Second, complete the registration process by clicking "Register Now" at the top of this page to pay the $150 exam fee.

NEXT STEPS

After the Training Team receives your forms and payment:

Next Step 1. Set up your myNABCEP account in Certemy. After you register for the exam, the Training Team will upload your information into the NABCEP system and you will receive an email from Certemy to create a myNABCEP account. Please follow the instructions and complete this step as soon as possible.

Next Step 2. Complete the registration steps in your myNABCEP account testing workflow. After you have set up your myNABCEP account, log into your account and complete the steps in your testing workflow. Once those steps are completed, you will be registered to take your exam and you will be allowed to schedule your exam.

Next Step 3. Schedule your exam. Once you have completed the registration steps, you will receive an email from NABCEP/Meazure Learning to set a date and time for your exam. It is strongly encouraged that you add candidatesupport@meazurelearning.com as a "safe sender." Please follow the instructions in this email based on if you decided to take the exam at a Meazure Learning Facility or if you want to do a Live Remote Proctored Exam (LRP) from your home computer. Please ensure your computer meets the requirements to qualify for this testing format.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, checks, purchase orders, and grants or scholarships for payment of registration fees. A Payment plan is available.
