Trends in Wealth Advising: What It Means for Fundraisers

At Giving USA, we learned that philanthropic dollars are increasing while the number of funders is decreasing. With more dollars coming from fewer funders, it is more important than ever for fundraisers to understand how those donors are being advised, and to speak the same language their wealth and investment advisors do. This has always mattered to the fundraiser; now it has to be a top priority.

Matt Todsen of OC Advisors in Philanthropy and Sara Garske of Elwood Advisors will share insights from the Advisors in Philanthropy 2026 conference and what they mean for fundraisers. We’ll explore how wealth and investment advisors are talking with their clients about charitable giving, where those conversations may be falling short, and how fundraisers can better connect with the advisors helping shape their donors’ philanthropic decisions.

Last month, we learned methods to engage diverse audiences. This month, we are offering techniques for engaging what may be your most important audience of all, the donors whose advisors are already shaping how they think about their own giving.
