The New Mexico Association of Counties (NMAC) Better Informed Public Officials (BIPO) Conference provides newly elected and veteran officials invaluable training to assist them in their important public roles. BIPO provides a foundation for newly elected officials as they begin their county leadership. Participants are encouraged to attend the entire three-day event as sessions focus on the specific responsibilities of each county elected office. Agenda items include:
- Understanding legal responsibilities and finance fundamentals
- Learning what county elected officials can and cannot do
- Avoiding common missteps, pitfalls, and negative press
- Discovering resources that support sound decision-making
- Building skills for working effectively with constituents, staff, and colleagues
NM EDGE classes: NMAC provides scholarships that cover NM EDGE classes for newly elected county officials. Veteran officials and county staff are required to pay a separate NM EDGE enrollment fee through the NM EDGE enrollment site. See the About & Fees page for details.
