Faculty Learning Outcomes (FLOs)

Provost presenting an award to a faculty member

The 21st Century Pedagogy Institute (21CPI) presents UCO faculty with opportunities to continually pursue teaching excellence through professional development that is designed following research-based educational theories and practices. These programs align with UCO's Academic Vision of being a learning-centered organization with a focus on teaching first.

21CPI's processes consist of Faculty Learning Outcomes (FLOs) that were developed by a cross-disciplinary Advisory Board and are informed by current educational research. By participating in programs and submitting learning artifacts, faculty are able to improve their teaching and earn recognition at one or more levels across their entire teaching careers.

Our recognition system was recognized as one of only 4 finalists for the POD Network's Innovation Award in 2024. We hope that it will provide faculty with a path toward continually improving teaching and learning in their courses and across their careers.

Earn Recognitions!

Journey: Badges to Micro-Credentials to Certificates to Awards

Faculty can earn recognitions by submitting artifacts, which 21CPI can help you with. All artifacts that are submitted are peer reviewed using the FLO Rubric. As you earn badges and other recognitions, we will send you an updated tracking sheet (view a sample Tracking Sheet).

The Cycle: 1) Learning (Reflect on your learning); 2) Engaging (Apply it to your courses); 3) Assessing (assess impact on students); 4) Disseminating (share with others);
