Advancements inmaterials and methods for implementation of remediation of both groundwater and sediments have accelerated greatly over the past 10 years. Both low-permeability caps and the use of adsorptive treatment materials such as RemBind, powdered activated carbon (PAC) and organophilic clay enable simple, low-cost solutions for remediation. Through numerous pilots and full-scale remediation projects, growth of these applications have been demonstrated. As the number of projects have increased, so too has the basic understanding of the technology (materials) and the issues (lessons learned) associated its expanded use/application. AquaBlok has manufactured and applied materials for remediation for nearly 20 years and for over 200 projects in the U.S. and Norway. In this presentation we will share information on both our materials and examples of successful project addressing a range of contaminants.

John Collins is the General Manager and COO of AquaBlok, Ltd. Mr. Collins is responsible for all day-to-day activities of the company, including technology development, manufacturing, and marketing. AquaBlok developed, patented and manufactures a wide range of materials using their unique technology in not only the environmental remediation markets, but also in phosphorous reduction, annular sealants, pond/canal liners, and other geotechnical segments. Mr. Collins has over 25 years’ experience in a variety of engineering and environmental related businesses managing research, product development, technology licensing, capital goods manufacturing, and acquisitions. He has been with AquaBlok for twelve years and has guided the development of several new products and managed multiple major remediation projects.
